My Parents wedding 26 June 1926. Crediton. A pretty wedding was solemnised at the Crediton Parish Church on Saturday, the contracting parties being Miss Betty(Bessie) E Webb eldest daughter of Mr W T Webb of South Wales and the late Mrs E Webb, and Mr Clarence Gay youngest son of Mrs G Gay and the late Mr Geo Gay of Clarence Villa Charlotte Street Crediton. The Vicar (Rev H Onslow) officiated. The bride who was given away by Mr Frank Lee, a friend of the bridegroom, was becom detachable skirt wedding dress ... ingly attired in a dress of champagne crepe-de-chine. She also wore a black picture hat trimmed with roses and carried a shower bouquet of roses and lilies. Mr Reg Horrell was best man. The two-dainty bridesmaid (nieces of the bridegroom) wore dresses of ivory crepe-de-chine with net caps to match. A reception was afterwards held at the bridegroom’s brother-in-law’s residence.
The happy couple left later in the day for Wells. The bride en-route laid her bouquet on her mother’s grave at Wells Cemetery. Hope some one finds a family member.
